Work ethic is something that you can indeed learn over time. So many think that work ethic is something you need to be born with. If you do not have a work ethic that is of high quality, you are never going to have it. How wrong is this statement! Work ethic can be learned, and one of the best ways to do that is by following KATA.
Continuous Improvement
The goal for KATA is to get individuals in a mindset where they are going to be able to improve continuously. It is all about allowing people the power to take ownership of what they are doing day-to-day and make continuous improvements to it to make things better.
The improvements that are made are incremental. The small gains may not seem like much out of the gate, but they will make all of the difference in the world in the long run. Continuous Coaching Commitment has the goal of driving individuals towards this improvement and bringing a quality effort with it.
Ownership of Processes
When individuals can own the processes they do day-to-day, they will be that much more likely to feel accountable. This accountability is going to help create strive to put in more effort. When you have someone that knows they own what they have created and that they are responsible for it, they are going to care for it that much more. If an employee does not exhibit a high amount of effort, they are not going to gain it just by following processes of how things were done in the past.
Increased Motivation
You are also going to see an increased motivation in employees when they follow KATA. They will strive to improve continuously, and even build a strong work ethic along the way. Motivated employees are going to be the ones best at driving forward a positive attitude. When an individual is motivated, it means that they are invested in what they are doing on a day-to-day basis. This tie-in with the ownership of the processes and the accountability factor, certainly should not be understated. When you have motivated employees, you are likely going to see gains in effort across the board.
Continuous Coaching Commitment is all about teaching the KATA techniques and helping your business gain from it for both the short and the long-run. Work ethic is something that can be learned over time and KATA can help get each and everyone one of your employees to that level.
